Ganja la Pass Trek

Ganja la Pass Trek

The Ganja la Pass is one of the most challenging passes in Nepal. The pass (Wedge) in the Himalaya is situated at an attitude of 5160m. We can also visit the head quarter of Langtang National Park here The pass is normally blocked by snow in winter and the last few 100 m trails are dangerous. While descending from the pass on a steep slope for over 1 km requires good care again. But the rest of the trail is easy and comfortable. As there are no lodges and no settlements for three days along the trail, the group should be well equipped with sufficient food. Only organized camping treks are possible for this region. After passing the Ganja la Pass, the trail takes you to Melamchi Gaon. Helambu is the land of Sherpa where one can see many monasteries and panoramic view of the mountains between Annapurna to Mt. Everest. Helambu lies to the north of Kathmandu and offers the nearest experience of Sherpa culture. Tarke Ghyang and further down to Melamchi Khola and Sundarijal from where we drive back to Kathmandu.

Highlights of the Trip

Langtang valley, Monasteries, Local people, magnificent view of Himalayas, Tamang villages and Monasteries, Chauri Kharka and flowers & fauna, Sherpa culture
