Trip Hightlights

  • Rich culture of diverse ethnic groups.
  • Old Towns and Customs
  • Sightseeing tour of the heritage sites
  • Visit 4 best places with 2 night accomodations

The Sundarijal Chisapani Nagarkot hike is a lovely short trek within the Kathmandu Valley, This trek will give you a true sense of nature as we hike through beautiful villages, thanks to the abundance and rich diversity of flora and fauna. In Sundarijal Chisapani Nagarkot Trek we hike past lush, green terraced hillsides that grow seasonal crops of mustard and wheat. Sundarijal Chisapani Nagarkot Trek offers some magnificent mountain views throughout the three days.

Sundarijal Chisapani Nagarkot Trek starts at Sundarijal, a forty-five minute drive from Kathmandu. The trail leads upwards past small villages and through forests of oak and rhododendron to the settlement of Chisopani for our first night. Chisapani is a small settlement of Brahmin, Gurung, and Sherpa groups that provides fantastic views of the Himalayas.

The following day, we head to the hill station of Nagarkot. This is a great day and takes approximately 6 hours. The hike is mostly through lush forest to reach our destination. Nagarkot is renowned for its sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayas. Mount Everest, along with many other snow-topped peaks, is spread out before you. After a good breakfast at Nagarkot, we trekked down for four hours along a ridge to the temple of Changu Narayan. This temple is the oldest Hindu temple in the Kathmandu Valley, and it features some amazingly intricate carvings of Tantric deities. The earthquake of 2015 badly damaged Changu Narayan and its associated buildings, but restoration of the complex is well under way.

Our transportation will pick us up here and take us to Bhaktapur, a short distance away, where we will have lunch. Bhaktapur, with its narrow, brick-paved streets, seems locked in centuries-old beliefs. Old traditions that provide hidden treasures of some sort around every corner After spending time here, we take our car back to the hotel in Kathmandu (one hour).

FAQs

I need to bring my own sleeping bag?

Not on this trek as you are staying in hotels and the lodge has bedding you might want to consider a inner bag liner.

What date does the trek start?

We have fixed departures clearly stated in the website otherwise if you are planning to make your tour specific to you and your group the tour starts on the date that works best for you.Typically, you need 2 days in Kathmandu prior to your trek.

Where can I store my luggage during the trek?

You can leave your additional luggage at your hotel in Kathmandu or at our company office in Thamel. Either way, your luggage will be waiting for you at your hotel when you return back from your trek.

What trekking gear should I bring from home?

You can buy virtually everything you need for trekking from down jackets to water bottles in Kathmandu. There is a variety of branded stores as well as a large selection of copied products mainly in Thamel that are of fairly good quality. It’s still worth bringing your own gear if it doesn’t take up too much weight, especially your own trekking boots to avoid any potential issues when purchasing new shoes..

What kind of trekking boots do I need?

You should bring trekking boots that are comfortable and broken in. There can be some snow at higher altitudes especially when crossing high passes, so it’s good to be prepared for a variety of conditions. Your footwear should be strong and durable. It should have a chunky sole—preferably made of Vibram or another durable material—and should also protect your ankles..

How much should I tip the guide and porters?

Tipping is not required but is expected, and really depends on how happy you were with the service. Guides (both for trekking and cultural tours), porters, and drivers are typically provided with a tip at the end of their service with you..

Do I have to carry my own gear?

You only need to carry your day pack with daily essentials (sunblock, water, hat, light jacket, and camera) Our porters carry the bulk of your gear, such as extra clothing and overnight essentials

Do the guides speak English & have first aid training?

All of our guides at Himalaya Heart speak English and have had many years of experience in guiding foreign travelers. It’s a requirement that they all are trained in first aid as well and we carry a first aid kit during the trek.

What happens if I fall ill during the trek?

You are never that remote on this trek and there is no chance of altitude sickness. However this is the detail we give to guests on longer treks If you fall ill during your trek, the course of action depends on what’s wrong. If it’s altitude sickness, moving to lower altitudes and taking altitude medication will solve this in most cases; if it’s severe, our guide will arrange for an emergency evacuation by helicopter Himalayan Heart will cover the initial costs then claim from your insurer (be sure that emergency helicopter rescue is covered in your travel insurance it is an essential requirement before travelling with us). If you have stomach sickness or another type of food or water-related illness, our guide will have medication on-hand for most common illnesses.

DAY Hiking

21st May, 2023

Apr 2023 • Couples

We were traveling in Kathmandu, Nagarkot and Bakthapur in April. Our guide was Hari (Yan Pd. Timalsina). The trip was perfectly organized. Starting from picking us up from the airport to bringing us back to the airport. Hari was always there for us, very attentive, always on time and extremely friendly and helpful. We felt very well taken care of by him.

We can definitely recommend Himalaya Heart Treks & Expeditions and especially Hari as a guide.
