How to reach the Everest Base Camp?

The most popular way to reach the base camp of Mt. Everest is on foot. It takes you eight days of trekking in the mountains to reach the base camp. The most common place to start the trek in the Everest region is Lukla where most of the people fly to. Some choose to trek for a few days to reach there.

You can fly to Lukla on a small plane from Kathmandu or Ramechhap. Or if you are ready to spend a little more money and fly in style, you can fly to Lukla on a helicopter too. Taking a helicopter flight instead of a plane can make your Everest trek a luxury adventure.

The trek starts after landing at Lukla airport and it takes you higher towards the base camp. Of the eight days on the trail to the base camp, two days are spent as an acclimatization break in Namche Bazar and Dingboche.

As a high-altitude trek, taking an acclimatization break is essential since it allows you more time to adjust to the changing climate and elevation.

Everest Base Camp Altitude: Is it the Highest Point on the Trek?
