The Mardi Himal Trek is one of the most beautiful short trekking adventures in Nepal. Located in the Annapurna region, this relatively new trekking route offers spectacular views of the Himalayan mountains, peaceful forests, traditional villages and breathtaking landscapes. It is an excellent choice for travelers who want to experience the natural beauty of the Himalayas without committing to a long trekking holiday.
Organized by Himalaya Heart Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd., a local trekking company based in Thamel, Kathmandu, the Mardi Himal Trek gives you the opportunity to explore the Annapurna region with experienced local guides and a friendly trekking team.
During this journey, you will walk through beautiful rhododendron forests, traditional mountain settlements and alpine landscapes before reaching Mardi Himal Base Camp, where magnificent views of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South and Hiunchuli await.
Whether you are a first-time trekker or an experienced mountain enthusiast, Mardi Himal is a wonderful destination for discovering the beauty of Nepal.
1. Where Is Mardi Himal Trek Located?
The Mardi Himal Trek is situated in the Annapurna Conservation Area of Gandaki Province, Nepal. The trekking route lies east of the popular Annapurna Base Camp trail and beneath the impressive Machhapuchhre Himal.
The journey usually begins from Pokhara, a beautiful lakeside city approximately 200 km west of Kathmandu. From Pokhara, trekkers travel by road to Kande or another designated trailhead before beginning their walking adventure.
The trail passes through several beautiful locations, including:
Kande
Australian Camp (optional)
Pothana
Deurali
Forest Camp
Low Camp
Badal Danda
High Camp
Mardi Himal Viewpoint
Mardi Himal Base Camp
One of the special features of this trek is that it takes you from green hills and dense forests to high-altitude mountain landscapes within a relatively short period.
2. Why Choose Mardi Himal Trek?
There are many reasons why Mardi Himal has become one of Nepal's most popular short trekking destinations.
Spectacular Himalayan views: The trek provides wonderful views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Mardi Himal, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and other surrounding peaks.
A peaceful trekking experience: Compared with some of the busier trekking routes in the Annapurna region, Mardi Himal offers a quieter and more peaceful mountain experience, although it can be busy during peak seasons.
Beautiful rhododendron forests: During spring, the forests become colorful with blooming rhododendron flowers, making the trail particularly attractive.
A short Himalayan adventure: You can complete the classic Mardi Himal Trek in approximately 5–7 trekking days, depending on your starting point and walking schedule.
Suitable for different experience levels: The trek is achievable for reasonably fit beginners who are comfortable walking several hours each day. Previous trekking experience is helpful but not essential.

The views become increasingly impressive as we climb higher. On clear days, you can enjoy spectacular views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.

Trekkers with sufficient energy, suitable weather and safe trail conditions may continue towards Mardi Himal Base Camp (approximately 4,500m). The final section is demanding, and reaching Base Camp is not guaranteed.
